Leading While Healing: Showing Up Even When You’re Not 100%

So far, we’ve explored your daily peace index, what your body is signaling, and how to recover and calibrate stress in healthy ways.

Some of you may have realized something uncomfortable:

You’re tired.

Worn down.

Maybe even hurting.

And yet… you still have roles to play.

Many people believe they need to be fully “back to normal” before they’re allowed to lead well. But real life doesn’t pause for recovery. You still have responsibilities, people depending on you, and work that matters - even when your body or mind isn’t operating at full capacity.

The danger isn’t leading while healing.

The danger is pretending you’re fine and pushing as if nothing needs attention. That’s how strain turns into injury. How fatigue turns into burnout. How pressure turns into resentment.

Today isn’t about guilt, but rather, ownership.

We encourage you to take responsibility for the long-term health of your life and get the support you need so you can continue to show up well in your spheres of influence.

Because the truth is, most of us would almost automatically sacrifice greatly for the people we care about.

But the harder question is:

Would you live well for them?

Would you do what it takes - consistently, quietly - to protect your health so you can meet today’s demands and still build toward a better future?

Leading while healing doesn’t mean ignoring your limits. It means adjusting your pace, asking for help when needed, and choosing steadiness over ego.

It means endurance with wisdom.

You don’t have to wait until everything is perfect to lead well. But you do have to pay attention.

Endure well.

CHALLENGE OF THE WEEK:

For the next week, lead well while healing with these suggestions:

  1. Visit your doctor. Even just to get basic check-ups and current status reports.

  2. Call your Chaplain/Spiritual Council. They are there for YOU on purpose, to help you along your journey.

  3. Seek Therapy if needed. Don’t fall for the false stigma of perceived weakness. Certain things need to be handled from the past so you can be present and work towards your future.

  4. Exercise by any means necessary. Walk, Group workout class, bike ride, youtube a free at-home exercise - let your endorphins do what they are meant to do to help you.

  5. Get referrals for specialists, depending on your needs; chiropractor, nutritionist, massage therapist, holistic care, etc..

  6. Communicate with healthy community. Family, friends, trusted co-workers.

REFLECTION:

What area of your life are you forcing yourself to push through, unattended?

What reality is that creating for you?

What is one thing you are committing to doing this week to invest in you?
