Strength in Your Arms: Turning Strength into Action

Your arms are the extension of your upper body strength -

where support, stability, and shoulder capacity become practical action.

Biceps help you pull and lift.

Triceps help you push and extend force.

Forearms and grip determine how well you hold, carry, and maintain control.

Whether you’re lifting tools, carrying materials, typing for hours, holding children, opening pickle jars, moving equipment, or simply opening heavy doors, or even helping your elderly or sick relatives in and out of bed,

arm strength plays a direct role in how effectively you engage with the world around you.

It’s worth much more than simple aesthetics!

Now imagine daily life with no arms,

or arms too weak to function well.

In many ways, we also serve as extensions of our workplaces, families, and communities - helping carry out necessary actions.

To keep adding value, we must intentionally build and maintain the strength needed to serve our roles well.

CHALLENGE OF THE WEEK:

  • Seated Bicep Curls → Biceps

    • Using 2 even weights, sitting on a stable surface, feet flat, palms upward, chest tall, shoulders back, eyes straight ahead - flex at the elbow, then lower slowly. [3x10 reps]

  • Tricep Bench Dip → Triceps

    • Place hands on a sturdy surface behind you, fingers forward. Walk your feet out. Lower your body by bending your elbows, then press back up. [3x10 reps]

  • Farmers Carry→ Forearm

    • Holding two similar-sized heavier weights in either hand, chest tall, shoulders back, eyes forward - carry weights down and back. [3x20 seconds]

REFLECTION:

  • What are you actively pulling into your life right now?

  • What do you need to push away or press through?

  • Do you have the endurance to hold what you’ve been entrusted with?
