Strength in Your Heart: Purpose, Endurance, Resilience
Did you know…..
your heart beats approximately 100,000 times per day
and pumps blood through more than 60,000 miles of blood vessels,
delivering oxygen and nutrients to every cell in your body?
Like any muscle, the heart becomes stronger when challenged appropriately through regular movement and cardiovascular exercise.
A stronger heart can pump more blood with less effort, improving energy, endurance, recovery, and overall health.
Heart disease remains the leading cause of death in the United States,
yet many of its risk factors can be improved through simple daily habits: regular exercise,
quality sleep,
stress management,
proper nutrition, and
avoiding tobacco.
A strong heart doesn't just help you live longer -
it helps you live better, with more capacity to serve, lead, and enjoy the people around you.
The strongest leaders are often the ones who consistently show up, care deeply, and endure through challenges…
one workout at a time,
one faithful choice at a time.
CHALLENGE OF THE WEEK:
Build up and maintain a strong heart with these tips:
Cardiovascular Training
Choose any kind: brisk walk, jog, run, sprints, HIIT, circuit training, as examples. Try to do all of these at varying intensities to train the heart.
Resistance Training
Choose any kind of resistance training: dumbbells/barbells, resistance bands, cables, bodyweight isometric movements.
Nutrition & Recovery
Stay hydrated (1L+), choose nutrient-dense food/meals, allow your heart to rest and recover through proper sleep, or it will make you.
REFLECTION:
How does your heart feel on a regular basis?
What does your breathing and endurance look like?
How quickly are you able to recover after an intense bout of energy?
