Summertime Essentials: Nature’s Healthy Gift
Soak Up the Sun, Get in the Dirt!
Summer is here, the days are longer, and it's the perfect time to take advantage of one of God's simplest gifts: getting outside.
Many Americans forgo adequate amounts of Vitamin D or the benefits of antioxidant-inducing free electrons from the ground…
partly because we spend much of our day indoors.
Sometimes the healthiest thing you can do is simplystep outside.
Regular time in the sun and nature can:
support vitamin D production,
improve mood,
strengthen bones and muscles,
reduce inflammation, and
contribute to long-term health
It also gives your mind a chance to slow down, reset, and gain a fresh perspective.
The best part?
It doesn't require a gym membership or expensive equipment -
just intentionality.
Enjoy the sunshine wisely.
Stay hydrated, wear appropriate clothing and sunscreen for your skin, take breaks in the shade when needed, and make time to enjoy the outdoors while summer is here.
Healthy leaders don't just work inside four walls - they intentionally step outside to be renewed.
CHALLENGE OF THE WEEK:
Be Outside Daily
Get at least 30 minutes of sunlight every day this week, whether for yard work, a nice walk on the beach, or sitting and enjoying a meal- you choose!
Go on A Walk Without Your Phone
Could be from 5- 30 minutes; disengage from technology for a moment to allow your nervous system the chance to return to homeostasis.
Get Your Feet on the Ground
Whether at the beach, at a park, or in your yard, let the skin of your feet touch the ground. Doing this daily can help reduce inflammation, among other things.
